Halloween is just around the corner, so Pisces Reef Fish Emporium of Las Vegas, Nevada thought it was fitting to bring in the Halloween Hermit Crab. The Halloween Hermit Crab is a great addition to a saltwater aquarium because it eats detritus, uneaten food and many kinds of algae, including red slime algae, and sifts the sand, as well. It is one of the more colorful janitorial hermit crabs with bright orange legs with red striping. The Halloween Hermit Crab lives in abandoned snail or triton shells to provide protection. Provide it with empty shells of assorted shapes and size because as they grow they may need to move to a larger size. Halloween hermit crabs do best in aquariums with a lot of live rock as well as substrate for them to rummage through. They prefer to hide in or near the live rock when the tank lights are on and come out into the open to feed when the tank lights are off. Halloween Hermit Crabs are omnivores. The Halloween Hermit Crab is one of many different species of hermit crabs. Stop by the store to learn more about the Halloween Hermit Crab and to see what else we brought in for the holiday!
